JASON GAO

Grants Committee

Living in Connecticut, Jason is a premedical student studying biology and psychology at Boston University. In Fall 2019, Jason had a tick bite with the proof of a classic bull's eye rash, but he didn't think much of it. One night, several months later, Jason experienced Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction-like symptoms. He was caught off-guard and deeply disturbed. Though he did not test positive for Lyme disease, the experience piqued his interest.

He has since worked with a Lyme expert to publish a paper that documented the experience of using a novel alternative/supplemental treatment for Lyme Disease. He has also reached out to the local community offering basic Lyme education and prevention techniques. Knowing how severe the disease can be as well as how it can plague those it affects, Jason’s goal in working with Ride Out Lyme is to provide more direct, tangible help to a greater population of Lyme patients.
