POWER THROUGH TO CURE
Join our journey to crush Lyme disease and Tick-Borne illness by funding grants for patients in need of financial assistance to pay for their treatments - one pedal at a time! Patients, caregivers, and friends come RIDE OUT LYME with us!
“What Is Lyme?”
Lyme disease is an infection caused by a spiral-shaped bacterium called a spirochete. Transmitted by both Black-Legged and Lone-Star ticks, it may present with flu-like symptoms and a characteristic “bullseye” rash. Unfortunately, these recognizable symptoms are not always present, and patients may suffer impairment to their joints, heart, and nervous system without a diagnosis for years. These symptoms along with encephalopathy, joint pain, and fatigue, may become chronic despite early antibiotic treatment. Ticks carrying the Lyme disease spirochete Borelia Burgdorferi may also transmit Babesiosis, Bartonella, Erlichiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, adding complexity to patients’ symptoms, treatment, and diagnosis.
